Taster Day 2: The Revenge
7th
April

This is about a taster day for alumni of our taster days. Consider it "taster v2.0". If you've ever attended any TrackersTEAMS free day, we really want you to come to the...

Bonus Round: Taster Alumni Day even more free
May 17, 9am-5pm with wild/local foods potluck & mixer at 6:30pm-10pm

Now for the real blog, sort of. At TrackersTEAMS we've been looking wistfully at the end of the "taster season". This year has been an incredible reminder of why we do what we do. These days have turned into much more then an opportunity to let people "sample" our program and meet our instructors; they've grown into inspiring moments of camaraderie and care; they've become a real way for Trackers to give a gift back to our community. I've been personally excited and honored to meet the people who attended these days: snowy, sunny and everything in between. I crave one last bash before we hit the summer. I want to find the next level we can take this community to. Let's grow beyond our program and learn something awesome together. What happens if all these people who found such brilliant rapport and relationships on the taster days (and urban tracking) got back together and did more of what worked so well?

-more silliness with the swords
-more fire by cedar and even hand drill
-more improv games
-the addition of stone arrowheads by the Pinger Brothers
-and even brewing and the boats if the timing is right
-always village skills and celebration

Plus, we'd never forget... Foam arrow, live action stealth games with Calvin Ball rules.

And let's add an evening mixer and potluck on to boot (where you wear your boots or barefeet with your tux or black dress... or buckskins... or wool... or Hawaiian shirt). The potluck will be entirely of local or wilds foods. I think all of us can swing that. Although, the first person to email and RSVP with me gets a magic immunity ticket to bring "chips and salsa". Otherwise, everything else must be local and/or wild: something you hunted, gathered, growed in the garden or bought at New Seasons (com'on, you know some of us will resort to that). At the mixer we'll talk more about the live action, 3-day scout game in late summer.

At Trackers, we're making this the start of a tradition and the the foundations of a great community. So here's your first call to action:

Now read our Frequently Asked (because we just made them up) Taster Alumni Day Questions?

Do I have to have attended a novice taster to attend the alumni day?
Yes, unless you sneak in. Or a better option would be to sign up for the May 16 novice taster on Saturday. BTW, Urban Tracking counts, plus the Outdoor Educator Day.

Can I attend both days, the novice taster on May 16 and the alumni taster on May 17?
Yes but you have to do the happy dance for us. Seriously.

Do I have to be great with the skills I learned during my first taster?
No silly. We like you just the way you are.

Does the Wild/Local Foods Potluck and Mixer require formal dress?
Yes.

A normal taster day to learn more about the program
If you or the friends you'd like to bring has not been to another taster day, simply attend the novice taster day on May 16, 2009

and you will be official alumni.
