Wilder Immersion30thApril
We're proud to announce the final new additions to the 2010-2011 TrackersTEAMS Wilderness Immersion.
We're all going to Rabbitstick! The Rabbitstick Rendezvous is renowned as one the longest running and relevant primitive skills gatherings in the world. There you will build a foundation of primitive skills to utilize throughout the year while living as a member of the Trackers community. It's also the perfect way to kick off our Fall Term in bushcraft and wilderness survival.
Here's a recap of our other additions to 2010-2011…
Our New Site on the Oregon Coast For 3-days a week we overnight at our 15-acre permaculture farm only a short walk to the beach and ocean. While many other programs traditionally run 9AM-5PM (including ours in the past) we will offer a full 3-days and 2-nights of living, playing and learning. We sincerely feel this brings our program that much closer to full immersion.
Our Foods are truly Wild and Self-harvested The dinners we share on all of our program days will be created from wild and local foods we tended to, grown and harvested ourselves. We feel this is an important step to walking our talk. Where does the food for programs in typical "wilderness" schools from? Is it wild, is it local or is it Costco?
Wilderness Survival Village Design Project The Wilderness Survival Village project truly combines permaculture and nature awareness. Imagine your team learning bushcraft and survival skills for one year. Throughout that same year they use the arts of tracking and nature awareness to fully observe and intimately know one piece of land. Your final Permaculture Design project is to create a working hunter-gatherer and horticulturist village, than transition there to live for one week or maybe longer. We are excited because of how this differs from of the "drop 'em somewhere random" survival graduation trips of many wilderness schools. It creates a relationship with one piece of land where you honestly know with real depth what you can give back before you ever begin to take.
Scholarships and Works Study Awards And while we've always informally offered work study and scholarship awards, now we officially offer them. There are limited funds for awards. The sooner you apply, the sooner your chances for an award.
