Jungle Marine Scouts
Only offered for 2010-2011
Begin in San Francisco and spend 2-months learning offshore sailing and wilderness survival. Then train for 7-months in jungle skills while residing on a tropical bay in Costa Rica. Live by the ocean as you learn ancient skills of the sea. Gain confidence and self-reliance through our jungle survival training and become fluent in the language of permaculture and sustainable living. These skills keep you safe in remote places and shape a career at home or abroad. Our experience is filmed and our adventures webcasted for the world to see.
This program includes
• residential living, basecamp right on beach with awesome surfing!
• marine skills with offshore sailing and boat building
• a webcast of the program sent out to the world
• Permaculture Design Certification with application to assist native local people in building sustainable infrastructure
• Wilderness First Responder Certification
• more intensive teaching hours than any other immersion program available anywhere!

The Team
You learn self-reliance, confidence and camaraderie while living in beautiful landscapes. We train to be effective leaders and community members through many different living scenarios. As we survive close to the land, our sense of place and gratitude to the natural world grows.

Return home with the story of a lifetime and certifications that open the door to a wide variety of careers. Or stay for the next session in the Fall to work as an assistant instructor.
