Bird Language & ID

Sentinels of the Forest

Another way to "track" animals is by using what we call the language of the birds. Every bird tells the story of what is happening around it. If the fox is moving through the woods, these forest sentinels let you know where. The art of bird langauge takes you far beyond simple identification.

A Doorway to Invisibility

A bird tells you how much or how little you disturb the baseline of the forest. Other animals listen for their songs or calls and know that you are coming even before they hear your footsteps. When you learn to be respectful of a birds subtle territory you set off their "alarms" less and less while at the same time getting closer to wildlife.

The Tao of Bird Language

Moving with bird language makes you part of the ebb and flow of the forest. A robin sings and tells you to continue walking or a chickadee drops down to say that there's a cat around. Its like life has a soundtrack and the birds are its symphony.
